Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker and syndicated columnist. She is also an television host, and author. She was the founder of The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001. She shortly after, she left the company. One of the show's original "Shark" investors, Corcoran has appeared in all 12 seasons of ABC's Shark Tank until today. She has been involved in 53 deals as of February, 2020. The most significant was a $350,000 investment that will provide 40 percent of Coverplay. Corcoran was second in the family of 10 children, and was raised in Edgewater. Florence Corcoran was Florence's mother and also a housekeeper. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. was her father. He was constantly switching jobs throughout Corcoran’s life. At times, the family relied upon free food delivery from a local, friendly grocery store. Corcoran recalls her father as one who often consumed too much alcohol and was rude to her mother and condescension, particularly after he'd consumed alcohol. Corcoran struggled at school, and eventually discovered that she was dyslexic. Corcoran began the high school system at St. Cecilia High School Englewood, after she left her Catholic elementary school. After failing several classes during her first year, Corcoran transferred to Leonia High School and was a D-student when she graduated.
